The shoe business
A career in the industry before a new chapter in poetry and storytelling.
ABOUT ME / H. T. MANOGUE
Before the poems and parallel worlds, there were shoes. Lots of shoes.
H.T. Manogue’s writing grew out of a change in the way he understood success, loss and the inner life.

THE STORY BEHIND THE STORIES
In his autobiographical account, H.T. describes an ambitious career in the shoe business and a difficult reassessment of the values he had pursued. Success and recognition eventually gave way to questions about his inner self.
His mother’s death in 1996 marked an important change. Reading philosophy and psychology brought him to Rumi, then to writers and thinkers including Lao Tzu, Rilke, Blake, Emerson and Shinkichi Takahashi.
He later encountered Abraham, the Seth material, and the teachings associated with Elias and Zurac. The deaths of his younger brother Bob and father Howard in 2013 deepened his reflections.
His books explore the idea that thought, emotion and perception shape experience. He presents that as an ongoing personal inquiry, rather than a finished spiritual destination.
His original account also names Confucius, Buddha, Ernest Holmes, James Allen, Jesus and Muhammad, alongside Jane Roberts and the Seth material.
